Dr. Longstreth is an adjunct investigator with the Department of Research & Evaluation and a retired partner from the Southern California Permanente Medical Group. His research interests include gastrointestinal epidemiology, functional gastrointestinal disorders, acute large bowel ischemia, diverticulitis, celiac disease, and medical anthropology. He has more than 35 years of experience as a practicing gastroenterologist. Dr. Longstreth was chief of gastroenterology at Kaiser Permanente’s San Diego Medical Center from 1984 to 2007. He retired from full-time practice in 2008 but continues to practice part-time.
