Biography

Dr. Katia Bruxvoort is an assistant professor of Epidemiology at University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she is developing an infectious disease epidemiology and global health research portfolio. She has broad interests in infectious disease prevention, screening and diagnostics, and medication adherence. Her research aims to improve clinical care and public health for underserved populations in diverse settings.

Dr. Bruxvoort was a post-doctoral research fellow for the Department of Research & Evaluation from 2017 to 2021. During this time, she focused on vaccine effectiveness and safety, and vaccine confidence. She also worked in other infectious disease research areas including latent tuberculosis, pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV prevention, urinary tract infections, and COVID-19. She continues to collaborate with the Department of Research & Evaluation on projects.
